ABOUT THE ARTIST
Kevin Lewis is an Anishinaabe Graphic Designer and Illustrator living in Thunder Bay, Ontario, with familial roots in Aroland First Nation on Treaty 9 Territory. Growing up, Kevin was always creating – drawing on scrap paper, painting with whatever he could find, and losing himself in colors and shapes long before he had the language to describe what art meant to him. Art became a place of comfort, curiosity, and connection-something that grounded him through change and helped him understand the world around him.
As he got older, he found himself returning again and again to the teachings, stories, and visual languages of his Ojibwe culture. The woodland art style, with its flowing forms and bright spirit lines, felt like home – like a way to honor where he came from while finding his own voice as an artist. Kevin’s work is deeply influenced by the land, the animals, and the quiet moments of reflection that come from being in relationship with nature.
Today, his illustrations carry pieces of memory, identity, and healing. Each artwork is an offering – something that connects past and present, tradition and personal expression. For Kevin, creating isn’t just a practice; it’s a way of staying close to his roots, his community, and the stories that shaped him.
